WiSAR Featured in KTI Knowledge Transfer Survey 2024

WiSAR is proud to be featured in the Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI) Annual Knowledge Transfer Survey 2024, which highlights Ireland’s strong performance in research commercialisation, industry collaboration, and innovation impact.

The survey, published by Knowledge Transfer Ireland (KTI) and the Higher Education Authority (HEA), showcases case studies of successful partnerships between research-performing organisations and industry. WiSAR’s collaboration with Kernan Group, through the Data2Sustain European Digital Innovation Hub (EDIH) at Atlantic Technological University (ATU), was selected as a feature case.

Led by Dr. Stephen Seawright, WiSAR Gateway Manager, the project focused on enhancing Kernan Group’s operational efficiency across its retail outlets through the application of IoT technologies and applied analytics. The initiative streamlined operations, automated processes, and introduced advanced monitoring systems for sustainability and product safety.

With advisory support from Dr. Kieran Ryan, Head of Knowledge Transfer at ATU, the consultancy delivered tangible results, including:

  • Improved operational efficiency
  • Enhanced resource and energy management
  • Reduced manual effort for staff
  • Real-time data insights for decision-making

Reflecting on the collaboration, Kernan Group stated:
“Working with ATU on the Data2Sustain project brought real value to our business by showing us how data can drive sustainability and operational improvements. We’ve become more innovative and are constantly asking: what can technology do to make this process better?”

The project demonstrates the power of collaborative innovation in driving digital transformation, sustainability, and profitability in the retail sector.

The KTI Annual Knowledge Transfer Survey 2024 reported record growth in research commercialisation, with more spin-outs, licensing agreements, and collaborations between Irish SMEs and research organisations than ever before. WiSAR is proud to contribute to this national success story, delivering cutting-edge IoT solutions that create real impact for industry partners.
