Join key stakeholders across Ireland NW for “Females in STEM Northwest: Building the Talent Pipeline” as we explore the pivotal role of women in STEM, the challenges they face and the collective efforts needed to achieve gender equality for a future-proof regional economy.
Event: Females in STEM Northwest: Building the Talent Pipeline
Date/Time: Tuesday, May 28, 10 – 11:30am
Location:
Colab, ATU Donegal
Background:
Expertise in STEM fields can greatly accelerate innovation and technological development across regional economies, which in turn are seen as drivers of social and economic growth.
However, across Ireland, women represent fewer than 25% of people working in STEM sectors and that shortfall is set only to increase as future demand for STEM skills increases. In order to realise our full economic potential, we must create an environment that encourages women and girls to study and take up careers in science and technology.
Hosted by ATU, under the Interreg Europe WeSTEMEU project, “Females in STEM Northwest: Building the Talent Pipeline” will see role models, educators, pioneers and innovators explore the challenges and opportunities in broadening female STEM participation across the Northwest region.
Panellists:
- Dr Shagufta Henna, Atlantic Technological University Donegal
- Anne McHugh, CEO, Donegal ETB
- Sinéad Walsh Walsh, Data Scientist, Optum
- Mary Mc Kenna, Technology Entrepreneur and Serial Investor
