Data2Sustain: Driving Sustainability Through Data Innovation

Data2Sustain is a collaborative initiative focused on using data science, Internet of Things (IoT), and advanced analytics to accelerate sustainable practices across sectors. As a project partner, the WISAR Lab contributes its expertise in wireless sensor networks, intelligent systems, and applied research to help deliver real-world impact.

A Collaborative Mission

Led by a consortium of academic and industry stakeholders, Data2Sustain brings together multidisciplinary expertise to develop and deploy data-driven solutions for a more sustainable future. The initiative addresses critical areas such as energy efficiency, circular economy, sustainable agriculture, and smart infrastructure.

Through its involvement, WISAR supports:

  • IoT-Enabled Energy Monitoring: Using sensor networks and analytics to reduce energy consumption and support decarbonisation goals.
  • Circular Economy Modelling: Developing data tools that enable waste reduction, material reuse, and lifecycle analysis.
  • Smart Agriculture Systems: Supporting sustainable food production through precision monitoring and decision-support tools.
  • Digital Infrastructure for Sustainability: Contributing to simulation models and digital twins that help plan and assess sustainable urban and industrial systems.

WISAR’s Role

At WISAR Lab, the focus is on bridging research and application. Within Data2Sustain, WISAR helps design and deploy the technical infrastructure required to collect, analyse, and act on sustainability-related data. This includes sensor integration, data communication, real-time processing, and smart system prototyping.
