Overview of the Role

The WiSAR Lab and Technology Gateway is a successful and innovative industry facing research centre, focused on the research and development of wireless systems including IoT, Body Worn Devices, wearable antenna design, and embedded systems. The WiSAR Lab has recently been successful in winning multiple PEACEPLUS and Interreg project funding. To support these major research and development programmes over the next four years we wish to recruit an experienced Project Manager.

The appointee will be an innovative, pro-active, experienced individual with the capacity to manage large research projects with multiple international partners. Ideally the successful candidate will have a strong record of project management in an industrial or academic research environment, together with a proven record of success in national and international research funding schemes.

Excellent communications and proposal writing skills will be essential. An understanding of the process of technology transfer and commercialisation of intellectual property would be a distinct advantage. Experience of working with project stakeholders and partners such SMEs and academic institutions will be a major advantage. It will be essential that the successful candidate has project financial management experience and a track record of project delivery success.

Essential Qualifications and Skills

  • A relevant PhD qualification or equivalent 4 years postgraduate research
    experience.
  • Applicants should have an honours degree in Telecommunications,
    Electronic or Computer Engineering, or similar.
  • A minimum of three years of project management experience in an
    academic or industrial setting.
  • Applicants should have a current driving license and access to a car.

Desirable Qualifications and Skills

  • A project management qualification
  • Experience in working in an academic research environment.
  • Experience of working in EU and national research projects including
    compiling regular financial and technical reports for the funder.
