BERGO:
BERGO is specialist BER software specifically designed for registered BER assessors to help streamline and digitise their assessments and workflows through real-time data collection and reporting.
Problem to Be Solved
BER (Building Energy Rating) assessors traditionally relied on manual sketches and disconnected tools to record details such as window types, insulation layers, and room dimensions. This manual approach often caused:
· Inconsistent data capture
· Inefficient workflows and longer turnaround times
· Increased likelihood of human error
BERGO aimed to transform the assessment process by creating a digital, automated solution that would improve accuracy, speed, and integration with the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) systems – ultimately boosting professional productivity and data reliability.
WiSAR Solution
Through the Data2Sustain EDIH, the WiSAR Lab collaborated with BERGO to design and deploy an innovative digital floor plan capture system using the PlanUp platform.
The system enables BER assessors to:
· Digitally map floor plans on-site, logging key structural and energy features in real time
· Standardise data collection, improving repeatability and precision
· Align with SEAI’s digital formats to prepare for future API-based automation
Early-stage demonstrations at the SEAI Energy Show in Dublin’s RDS attracted strong industry interest, confirming the practicality and appeal of the solution. This project showcases WiSAR’s role in digitising traditional workflows and empowering SMEs to adopt next-generation energy assessment technologies.
Impact & Benefits
· Time Efficiency: Major reduction in data collection and processing time.
· Accuracy & Repeatability: Standardised inputs minimise calculation errors and rework.
· API Readiness: BERGO is now fully positioned for SEAI integration.
· Market Validation: Strong engagement from industry professionals during demonstrations.
· Social & Economic Benefits:
o Improved professionalism and job satisfaction for assessors.
o Reduced operational costs through faster, more reliable workflows.
o Scalable framework adaptable for national and international certification schemes.
