The Wireless Sensor and Applied Research Lab (WiSAR Lab) develop products and industry solutions using expertise in Wireless, Embedded Systems and related software.  WiSAR is based in Letterkenny Institute of Technology and is part of the Technology Gateway Network, a nationwide resource for industry delivering solutions on near to market problems for industrial partners.

WiSAR’s core strengths are applied to three research strands: The Internet of Things (IoT), Health Monitoring and Industrial Control enabling the delivery of a wide range of product and system solutions across a number of market sectors including manufacturing, health, leisure, agriculture and ICT.

SMARTrenew is a project funded under the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme 2014 – 2020 with an allocated budget of €1.6 million. The aim of SMARTrenew is to transfer renewable energy and smart storage solutions to dispersed regions of the NPA. The primary objective of SMARTrenew is to utilise knowledge transfer from partners across the NPA region to improve efficiency and effectiveness of renewable energy sources and implement innovative and sustainable energy storage solutions.
